Julian Ceron

Graduated in Biochemistry at University of Murcia, and Ph.D. in Biochemistry in Universidad Miguel Hernández (UMH, Elche). I did my PhD in the Neuroscience Institute of San Juan (Alicante) working on Drosophila neurogenesis. During my PhD, I stayed a couple of times (3 months each) the lab of Cayetano Gonzalez in the EMBL in Heidelberg (Germany). After my PhD, I got an EMBO short-term fellowship and a travel award from the journal development to stay as postdoc at Angela Giangrande’s lab in the IGBMC of Strasbourg (France). Then I moved to Boston to work as postdoc and research associate in C. elegans at Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA. After five years in USA where I got the expertise in the animal model C. elegans, I returned to Spain with a Marie Curie International Reintegration Grant. After two years at the Valle de Hebron Hospital I got a Miguel Servet Junior position in the Biomedical Research Institute of Bellvitge (IDIBELL). Thus, since 2009 I am a PI, first as Miguel Servet researcher and now as Consolidated Investigator in IDIBELL. Since 2009, as PI, I have published 29 research articles, mots of them at the first quartile. I’m PI of the research group Modeling human diseases in C. elegans, which consists of five Ph.D. student and myself. Importantly, 4 of these Ph.D. students have their own fellowship. In the past, I have supervised 11 Ph.D. students. All passed the Ph.D. with high qualifications and with a first author manuscript at least. They are are still working in scientific research as a postdoc, scientific communication or management. I have published as a senior (corresponding author) in top journals as Plos Genetics, Clinical Cancer Research, Nature Communications, Human Molecular Genetics, RNA o Genetics, and I am co-author of other high impact publications in Nature Medicine, EMBO Journal or Cell Report. I have obtained grants from the ISCIII, Maratò de TV3 Foundation and ONCE Foundation. I’m part of the EC COST network GENIE. I have participated as speaker to international conferences, I have organized two international workshops on C. elegans and CRISPR and I am reviewer of journal as Nature Genetics or Molecular Journals. I have evaluated national and international grants. I teach in distinct master programs in Barcelona. I have an H-index of 18 and I have 2407 citations to date (May-2022).
