José Almeida received the M.SC. degree in electrical and computer engineering from the University of Porto (UP), Porto, Portugal, in 1996. He is a Researcher with INESC TEC and Professor with the ISEP—School of Engineering, Polytechnic Institute of Porto, Porto, Portugal. He has acted as Principal Investigator/Researcher in several research projects funded by entities such as the Portuguese Science and Technology Foundation, Portuguese Innovation Agency, NATO SfS Programme or European 7th Framework Programme. His main research area is sensing, perception, and navigation in mobile multirobots systems.
