My aim to improve the quality of life of people with gait impairments is the drive behind my work. Both my clinical and scientific work focuses on diagnosis and personalized treatment of complex neurological gait disorders. By working as a clinician and as a researcher, I have the opportunity to ‘bridge’ the translation gap between (fundamental) research and daily clinical practice. Specifically, I focus on gait impairments in three groups of neurological disorders: 1) Parkinson’s disease, 2) rare and hereditary movement disorders (eg spinocerebellar ataxia and hereditary spastic paraplegia), 3) stroke.
