Jorge Leite

I am currently Vice-Rector for Research at Portucalense University, where I am an Associate Professor and the Director of Brain loop Lab. During my PhD, I developed a special interest about non-invasive brain stimulation (NIBS) and its potential effects on cognition. After initial training in Gottingen (2008), I got full certification in 2010 for the use of tDCS and TMS under the supervision of Prof. Felipe Fregni at Harvard Medical School. Upon my PhD completion in December 2011, I was invited to an Assistant Professor position at University of Minho. After being awarded a post-doctoral fellowship by FCT in 2013, I undertook additional Post-Doctoral training in the US, namely at Northeastern University, from September 2013 to July 2014, and at Harvard Medical School from August 2014 to December 2016. The purpose of this training was to increase my proficiency and knowledge of neuroimaging methods (fMRI, DTI and NIRS), as well as mastering noninvasive brain stimulation techniques, such as transcranial alternating current stimulation (tACS), transcranial random noise stimulation (tRNS) or peripheral sensorial stimulation. I have been also awarded, through FCT, two projects as a Principal Investigator (P2020-PTDC/MHCPCN/ 3950/2014 – EUR 124,463.00; PTDC/PSI-ESP/30280/2017 - EUR 214,404.32) and participated as CO-I in more than 13 externally funded projects/contracts at the national and international level.
