He was Wales' first Professor of Hydrology and was awarded a Personal Chair by the University of Wales, Aberystwyth in 2001. He has won the Best Paper Award of the East and West Snow Conference, Professor Pomeroy has conducted research in Western and Northern Canada, USA, Bolivia, Russia, Wales, Scotland, Nepal, China, Chile and Japan. He has given numerous lectures in North America, Europe, Africa and Asia.
