More than 30 years of experience in cell biology, now Director General of Euro-BioImaging, the pan-European research infrastructure for biological and biomedical imaging. Primary current tasks relate to the strategic development, coordination, and management of this large-scale initiative that provides access, training, and support to researchers and innovators in the field of imaging across Europe. I am also a Professor of Cell Biology at Åbo Akademi University with a research group working on cytoskeletal and survival signaling. Active background in research infrastructure development, where expertise lies in microscopy, especially in applying advanced imaging techniques in combination with proteomics to study cellular structures and processes. As the Director General of Euro-BioImaging, together with my colleagues at Euro-BioImaging, I aim to contribute to the European Research Area and the global bioimaging ecosystem by providing state-of-the-art facilities, services, and standards for imaging research and innovation.
