I'm an ecosystems ecologist generally interested in the role of communities and biotic interactions for ecosystem functioning in light of human-induced environmental change. Four overarching questions guide my work: how does attributes of communities and biotic interactions 1) influence ecosystem processes and benefits to humans? 2) respond to human-induced environmental change? 3) modulate ecosystem responses to environmental change? 4) help us guide effective conservation and management?
