Joachim Jacoby

Joachim Jacoby was born in Kinheim/Mosel, Germany, on January 5, 1959. He received the Diploma from the University of Bonn, Bonn, Germany, in 1986 and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Heidelberg, Heidelberg, Germany, in 1989. In 1990 and 1991, he worked on X-ray lasers as a Guest Scientist with the Laser Division, Rutherford Appleton Laboratory, Didcot, U.K. In 1998, he was a Privatdozent with the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg, Erlangen, Germany. In 2002, he was an Associate Professor with the Department of Physics, University of Frankfurt/Main, Frankfurt am Main, Germany. In 1986, he was working on the interaction of heavy ion beams with matter at high energy density mainly performed at Gesellschaft für Schwerionenforschung, Darmstadt, Germany, including the stopping power of heavy ion beams in fully ionized plasmas and plasma production by heavy ion beams. He is currently with the Plasmaphysics Group, Institute for Applied Physics, Goethe University, Frankfurt am Main. His current research interests include warm dense matter produced by heavy ion and laser beams, plasma generation by RF- and high-current discharges, and fundamental interactions of charged particles at elastic scattering.
