Since 2004, he has focused on the academic research on the durability of concrete structures under the marine environment. Firstly, the transient corrosion simulation method of reinforcing steel bar embedded in concrete was established by revealing the coupling effect of the mass transport and steel corrosion. Secondly, the computational methods for the loading bearing capacity of the corroded steel-reinforced concrete members were successfully proposed to resolve the result discrete and unpredictable problems. Thirdly, the multi-ion transport model under the action of external electric field was developed to progress the design of electrochemical remediation from qualitative to quantitative. He served as PI in 3 NSFC funds (including Young Scholars Program, General Program, and Subject of Key Program), 2 Subjects of National Key Research and Development Programs, and 1 Key Program funded by ZJNSF. Currently, he has published 23 papers indexed by SCI/EI, which include 14 papers indexed by SCI with h-index of 7. The SCI indexed papers were totally cited 90 times by other SCI papers, with the most citations per item of 30. He has been authorized 4 invention patents, one of which was awarded the Chinese patent award of excellence. He was also awarded the 1stclass Prize for Technological Innovation of Zhejiang province and the 1stclass Prize for Technological Innovation of Ningbo. He also serves as committee member of 3 design codes or specifications, including the GB standard, the CECS standard and the provincial standard. His academic achievements have been applied into engineering application, such as the Hangzhou Bay Bridge, the Zhoushan bridge, et al.
