My primary role is in managing and coordinating large animal related research into cardiovascular disorders. My secondary role is in managing the Westmead Hospital Large Animal PC2 catheterisation laboratory, involving ongoing infrastructure development. My primary research interest is in cardiac electrophysiology post-myocardial infarction, with the aims (1) to develop novel methods of mapping arrhythmogenic substrates, (2) to elucidate pathophysiological mechanisms of cardiac arrhythmogenesis, which may lead to curative therapies. I am also appointed as Clinical Senior Lecturer, Sydney Medical School, University of Sydney. JP is also a Cardiovascular Scientist in clinical measurements at Ramsay Healthcare, Westmead Private Hospital (0.2 FTE).
