Jie Zhu

Dr Jie ZHU, PhD of Ophthalmology, Deputy Chief Physician. Currently she serves as Director of Ophthalmology Ward, and Executive Director of the Genetic Testing Center of Guangzhou Women and Children's Medical Center. She is mainly engaged in clinical and basic research on ophthalmological diseases, and has achieved a series of important research results in the etiology and pathogenesis, treatment targets and intervention methods of cataracts, retinal pigment degeneration, intraocular neovascular diseases, glaucoma and eye tumors. Her study has been published in Nature, Cell Research, Cancer Cell, Molecular Cell, PNAS, Biomaterials and other top journals, with a total impact factor over 450 points, and were cited more than 2,000 times. She worked as Postdoctoral Researcher in Shiley Eye Institute, University of California, San Diego, USA. After returning to China in March 2017, she joined the Guangzhou Women and Children's Medical Center, and successively won talent projects such as the Guangdong Natural Science Foundation Project, Guangzhou High-level Talent Young Scholar, and Guangzhou High-level Health Key Talents. Current research interests include: CRISPR/Cas9 cell reprogramming for ocular genetic degenerative diseases, protein accumulation and retinal degeneration, extracellular matrix signals and regulation of retinopathy of prematurity, stem cells and neuroprotection in glaucoma.
