Jie Gong

Jie Gong received the B.S. degree in atmospheric science from Peking University, Beijing, China, in 2005, and the Ph.D. degree from Stony Brook University, Stony Brook, NY, USA, in 2009. She is a Senior Scientist affiliated with the Universities Space Research Association, Columbia, MD, USA, and has been working at NASA Goddard, Greenbelt, MD, USA, since 2012. She did her postdoc training at JPL from 2009 to 2011, where she switched her research area from wave dynamics to satellite remote sensing. Her research focuses on studying ice and snow microphysical properties, and how they connect to surface precipitation processes from satellite remote sensing observations with the combination use of infrared, submillimeter, and microwave techniques. She has been a Principal Investigator (PI) and a Co-I of many NASA-funded projects.
