Prof Zhang’s research interests cover the areas of computational intelligence, machine learning and pattern recognition, intelligent systems and control, intelligent data-driven modeling and analysis, modeling and analysis of biomedical systems, human-machine systems, and brain-machine interaction. In addition to those theoretical developments, he also applies advanced computational intelligence and machine learning techniques proposed by his group to solve real-world modeling, pattern recognition, control, optimization and decision support problems in the fields of biomedical engineering, healthcare, intelligent transportation systems, retail business and precision agriculture.
