Bio
I am a board-certified, practicing emergency physician with >20 years of experience in clinical care, research, education, quality measurement, and the business of medicine. I am the recipient of the 2023 Colin Rorrie Jr. Health Policy Award from the American College of Emergency Physicians.
I develop and implement delivery and payment models to improve emergency, hospital, and critical care. This includes leading the development and implementation of the first-ever government alternative payment model (ED EQIP in Maryland) for emergency physicians to reduce total cost of care. Additionally, I have developed successful alternative payment models with private payers for reducing variation in admissions and imaging through clinical protocols. I also lead the development and implementation of telemedicine programs at USACS with models in tele-urgent care, tele-psychiatry, tele-emergency care, tele-hospitalist, tele-EMS, tele-observation, and tele-ICU. I lead clinical artificial-intelligence related efforts within the organization. I am also the Fellowship Director for the Clinical Innovation fellowship at USACS which is a one-year program for emergency and hospitalist physicians. The fellowship is in its 4th year as of 2024-5.
