His primary research centers on speech technology including speech recognition, audio indexing, language identification, and speaker recognition. He has published more than 300 papers in this field and was awarded a CNRS silver medal in 2007. He was co-editor-in-chief of the Speech Communication journal for a 3-year mandate (2006-2008).
