I have developed my experience as a researcher and teacher over the past 25 years. After finishing my Bachelor studies in Biochemistry, I got involved in a project with two differentiated aspects: Analytical Chemistry (especially the development and validation of chromatographic methods of analysis) and Biochemistry (along with the treatment of experimental animals), both necessary to develop the research that concluded with the thesis titled "Influence of changes in the fatty acid composition of the diet, gestation and diabetes in the tissue and circulating levels of vitamin E in the rat", for which I received in 2003 the title of PhD in Pharmacy with the highest cum laude qualification. In 2001, I was part of the research team of Prof. Emilio Herrera (thesis director), which received the Ángel Herrera award for the best research team at the Universidad San Pablo CEU. During the realization of the thesis, I received a scholarship from Universidad San Pablo CEU that allowed me to become involved in teaching within the Analytical Chemistry Area. I did not lose my implication in teaching was at the end of my scholarship, so I could join the staff of the University later. At the end of the scholarship, my research continued to be linked to the research in the Analytical Chemistry Area. My experience gained during 1996-2002 allowed the group to be part of a research consortium with other groups from the Autonomous University of Madrid and the CSIC to investigate the nutraceutical possibilities of natural extracts obtained through environmentally clean techniques (three consecutive National projects between 2002 and 2008. In 2005, I was again part of the research team that received the Ángel Herrera award, but this time as a member of the Analytical Chemistry group led by Prof. Coral Barbas. In parallel with this experience, the collaboration carried out by the Analytical Chemistry Area with the pharmaceutical industry (in particular with Laboratorios Cinfa SA) allowed me to come into contact with the quality control requirements of the industry. In addition, I conducted very applied research, the development of new chromatographic methods to analyze active substances and degradation products in raw materials and finished products. My research activity has continued as a founding and active member of the Center for Metabolomics and Bioanalysis (CEMBIO), which welcomes researchers in different degrees from the third cycle (Master) to postdoctoral, including the professors of the Analytical Chemistry Area with more than 20 years of experience. Within CEMBIO, I have done practically all my research for the last 12 years. I have worked in the development of methodologies for metabolomics studies, and their applications to different situations. Such strategies provide enormous possibilities for discovering new biomarkers. Therefore, unveiling the biochemical processes that allow elucidating the not-yet-known pathophysiological mechanisms in diseases is the final goal of most of my research. During 2007-2008 I joined the staff of the Universidad San Pablo CEU in Madrid (Spain) as Profesor Colaborador Doctor Lecturer (Lecturer, Assistant Professor). In 2012 I was promoted to Profesor Adjunto (specific promotion in USP-CEU), and in 2021 to Profesor Titular (Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor, the position I currently hold) in the Area of Analytical Chemistry, within the Pharmacy, Biotechnology, Genetics, and Bioengineering degrees. Since 1998 I have published 73 articles in journals included in JCR (98% in Q1), which have merited over 2100 citations. My current h-index (Publons) is 29. I have directed 8 Master projects and 3 PhD theses, all evaluated with the highest marks.
