Neurogenesis in the adult and developing brain.
Two regions (hippocampus and olfactory system) of the adult mammalian brain continue to produce new neurons throughout life. Production of new cells form the dentate gyrus in the hippocampus appears to be essential for consolidation of certain types of memory. Exposure to antimitotic drugs and ageing reduce neurogenesis in this region and leads to cognitive impairments. I am looking for Thai herbs which can induce neurogenesis and improve memory in animal models.
