Janice Kiely

Janice Kiely received the B.Eng. (Hons.) degree in electronic engineering from the University of Sheffield, Sheffield, U.K., in 1987, and the Ph.D. degree from the University of Cardiff, Cardiff, U.K., in 1992. Her Ph.D. degree involved the development of novel, miniature thermoelectric devices for passive IR detection. She was appointed as a Lecturer in Sensors and Instrumentation in 1993 and subsequently has held the roles of the Head of the Department of Electronic and Computer Systems Engineering and the Head of Research and Knowledge Exchange of the Faculty of Engineering. Since 2008, she has been the Co-Director of the Institute of Bio-Sensing Technology, Bristol, U.K., and since 2016, she has been the Health Technology Hub, University of the West of England. In 2014, she was the Founder of an University spin out, Miatech Biosolutions, Ltd. Dr. Kiely is a Fellow of the Institute of Engineering and Technology, U.K., and in 2015 she was awarded a Royal Academy of Engineering Enterprise Fellowship.
