Jan Genoe was born in Leuven, Belgium on May 19, 1965. He received the electrical engineering degree from the Catholic University of Leuven, Belgium in 1988. He joined the Interuniversity Micro-Electronics Center (IMEC) in Leuven as a member of the Compound Semiconductor Epitaxy Group. He obtained his Ph.D. degree as a Fellow of the Instituut tot aanmoediging van het Wetenschappelijk Onderzoek in de Nijverheid en de Landbouw (IWONL) on May 31, 1994. Afterwards, he joined the Grenoble High Magnetic Field Laboratory as a Human Capital and Mobility (HCM) Fellow of the European Community. Next, he worked in IMEC-ETRO on optical interconnects. Currently, he's a lecturer at the Katholieke Hogeschool Limburg (KHLim) and head of the Polymer and Molecular Electronics (PME) group of IMEC His main research interests are quantum devices, optical interconnects, organic transistors and memory devices.
