Jan Hennissen

I am a Palynologist and Micropalaeontologist (16 years of experience), currently operating as a Palynologist and Laboratory Manager at The British Geological Survey. My current work centers on palynofacies analysis and the interpretation of organic assemblage compositions combined with stable isotope and organic geochemistry (Rock-Eval and pyrolysis gas-chromatography) parameters in order to reconstruct Carboniferous palaeoclimate and assess the prospectivity of shale successions. I have expertise in Carboniferous pollen and spores, Ordovician – Silurian chitinozoans, Neogene dinoflagellate cysts and palynofacies analysis. I specialize in the statistical analysis of large integrated datasets in the R environment: interpreting independently acquired environmental parameters in combination with changes in the palaeontological assemblage composition.
