Jamal Lasri was born in Casablanca is a Portuguese-Moroccan organic chemist. He received his B.Sc. degree in chemistry from the University Hassan II of Casablanca (Morocco) in 1997. Then, he moved to Spain for his M.Sc. and Ph.D. studies at the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Valencia under the supervision of Prof. José Sepúlveda-Arques. His research interests involved the synthesis of pyrido[3,2-d]pyrimidine-2,4-diones, novel route for the synthesis of N-tosylguanidines by ring cleavage of 1,2-dihydro-2-tosyliminopyrimidines and study of the intermolecular transamidation reactions of N-carbamoylmethyl-N’-tosylguanidines with primary alkylamines. He obtained his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in organic chemistry in 2002 and 2004, respectively (Excellent "Cum Laude"). In September 2004, he started his postdoctoral research funded by a fellowship from Bancaja-Caja Castellón Foundation at the University Jaime I of Castellón (Spain) joining the group of Prof. Santiago Vicente Luis Lafuente. He worked on the design and synthesis of new copper(II) bis(oxazoline) polymeric systems and their use as heterogeneous catalysts for cyclopropanation reactions. In May 2005, he moved to Portugal to work as a postdoctoral researcher with a Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) fellowship (SFRH/BPD/20927/2004) in the group of Prof. Armando J. L. Pombeiro at the Instituto Superior Técnico of the University of Lisbon. In January 2008, he was appointed as an associate researcher (Science 2007 program, FCT) at the Instituto Superior Técnico of Lisbon. His work was focused on the activation of organonitriles by transition metal centres, metal-mediated synthesis of N-heterocyclic compounds via [2+3] cycloadditions, thermal or microwave-assisted carbon-carbon cross-couplings (e.g. Suzuki and Heck) in water or supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2), peroxidative oxidation of alcohols and alkanes, and green chemistry. In September 2013, he holds a position of associate professor of chemistry at King Abdulaziz University (Jeddah, Saudi Arabia). In June 2015, he was promoted to Full Professor of organic chemistry. His teaching interests include general chemistry, organic chemistry, physical organic chemistry, spectroscopy of organic compounds, chemistry of synthetic polymers, special topics in organic chemistry and environmental chemistry. Prof. Lasri published 5 patents and over 66 research articles in peer-reviewed journals such as Fuel, Chem. Eur. J.; Adv. Synth. Catal.; Chem Commun.; Org. Lett.; J. Org. Chem.; Inorg. Chem.; Dalton Trans.; Tetrahedron Lett.; Eur. J. Inorg. Chem.; Eur. J. Med. Chem.; Tetrahedron. Moreover, Lasri´ s papers received over 1215 citations with an h-index = 21 (Google Scholar). He co-supervised several B.Sc., M.Sc. and Ph.D. students, and also coordinated and/or participated in various national and international projects. In addition, he is a reviewer of Organometallics; Molecules; Inorg. Chim. Acta.; J. Heterocycl. Chem.; Cent. Eur. J. Chem.; Lett. Org. Chem.; J. Organomet. Chem.; Arab J. Basic App. Sci.; J.
