Jafar Soltani received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Tabriz University, Tabriz, Iran, in 1974, and received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees both in electrical engineering from the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology, Manchester, U.K., in 1983 and 1987, respectively. He is currently a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Khomeinishahr branch, Islamic Azad University, Khomeinishahr, Iran. He is also an Emeritus Professor in the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Isfahan University of Technology, Isfahan, Iran. His main research interests include electrical machines and drive, power electronics, and power system control. He has authored or coauthored many international journal and conference papers and is the holder of a U.K. patent.
