Jaap H. Buurke

Jaap H. Buurke was born in Onstwedde, The Netherlands, on September 8, 1958. He received the B.S. degree in physical therapy from the Academy for Physical Therapy, Enschede, The Netherlands, in 1982, and the Ph.D. degree in recovery of walking after stroke from the University of Twente, Enschede, The Netherlands, in 2005. He was engaged in research on motor control and movement analysis in patients with neurological disorders. He is currently a Senior Researcher at Roessingh Research and Development, Enschede, a large research department at one of the leading rehabilitation institutes of The Netherlands. He is also with Roessingh Rehabilitation Center, Enschede. His current research interests include balance control, motor control, and clinical movement analysis and rehabilitation robotics in patients with neurological disorders.
