He is now working as a lecturer at Universidade Federal de Uberlandia, Minas Gerais, Brazil (2008-now). His current area of research deals with the utilization of molecular, biochemical and clinical diagnostic techniques to improve reproductive efficiency in cows. His research areas are related to uterine involution, uterine diseases and metabolic diseases in the peripartum of cows, mainly crossbred dairy cows. Now, he has started to study the mechanisms of infection and immunity in the bovine genital tract, focusing on how ovarian hormones, negative energetic balance (NEB) and hypocalcemia could disturb the uterine innate immunity and inflammation.
