Joao H. C. Costa received the B.S. degree in agroecology and sustainable agriculture, and the M.S. degree in agroecosystems with a focus on animal science from the Federal University of Santa Catarina, Brazil, in 2009 and 2012, respectively, and the Ph.D. degree in animal science from The University of British Columbia, Canada. He is currently an Associate Professor with the Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences, University of Vermont, USA. His expertise is in precision dairy, and dairy cattle management related to behavior, nutrition, one health, welfare, and sustainability. He has a very active research program supported by significant extramural funding, has received numerous faculty and graduate student research awards, and has close to 100 refereed publications, besides being an active internationally and nationally recognized speaker.
