Isabella C. Felli

Isabella C. Felli graduated with a degree in Chemistry in 1994 - with her thesis she contributed to the determination of the first solution structure by NMR of a paramagnetic protein. She obtained the PhD in Chemistry in 1998 at the University of Florence (Italy) under the supervision of Prof. Ivano Bertini. She joined the group of Prof. Geoffrey Bodenhausen as visiting student at the NHMFL in Tallahassee (USA). She received an Alexander von Humboldt fellowship for a post-doctoral position in Frankfurt (Germany) with Prof. Christian Griesinger. She also received several other grants (including Marie Curie, DAAD, EMBO) as well as awards during this period (prize by Federchimica for her undergraduate thesis, prize by the Italian Chemical Society for her PhD work). She then returned to Florence in the group of Prof. Ivano Bertini. Since 2005 she is associate professor (CHIM/03) at the University of Florence. She currently teaches NMR to Chemistry Masters students (two courses of 6 credits each) as well as Chemistry to first year Physics students (3 credits). She is member of the Center for Magnetic Resonance (CERM) and of the Department of Chemistry Ugo Schiff at the University of Florence. She is a member of the Supervisory Board of the Doctorate in Chemistry (Faculty of Science). She has been involved since 2006 in several large EC supported projects to provide access to NMR research infrastructures (EUNMR, EASTNMR, BioNMR, iNEXT, iNEXT-D). She coordinated the IDPbyNMR EC Marie Curie Initial Training Network (ITN) (www.idpbynmr.eu/video, 8 partners, 3.4 M, starting date 01/11/2010, duration: 4 years). She is member of the ISMAR Council, of the AMPERE Committee and of the ENC Committee, three of the major NMR associations worldwide. She has been part of the of the EUROMAR Board of Trustees. She has been involved in the organization of several international meetings and in several editorial activities (Editor of a book recently published Springer entitled “Intrinsically Disordered Proteins studied by NMR Spectroscopy”, member of the editorial board of Magnetic Resonance and of Journal of Biomolecular NMR). She has been invited as a speaker to many international meetings, such as ICMRBS 2012, ISMAR 2013, EUROMAR 2013, ENC 2015, ENC 2016, EUROMAR 2017, ICMRBS 2018 (including three plenary talks). Her main research interest consists in the application and development of NMR methods to study intrinsically disordered proteins.
