Isaac Fan was born in Taipei, Taiwan, in 1978. He received the B.Sc. degree in electrical engineering, the B.Sc. degree in physics, and the Ph.D. degree in physics from the University of Alberta, Edmonton, AB, Canada, in 2002, 2004, and 2009, respectively. From 2009 to 2013, he held a post-doctoral position at National Tsing-Hua University, Hsinchu, Taiwan, where he carried out precision laser spectroscopy in thallium atoms and iodine molecules. He was involved in the study of muon spin dynamics in diamond-latticed semiconductors at the University of Alberta. Since 2014, he has been with Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt, Berlin, Germany, where he has been involved in the nuclear spin precession experiments at ultralow magnetic field.
