Inge Sandholt is an internationally recognized scientist and research leader, who for more than 25 years has conducted research and taught at universities in Denmark and abroad. Inge's research has particularly contributed to the state of the art in environmental remote sensing. Regional focus extends from Africa, China to Europe. She is frequently used as an expert evaluator for international projects and research programs. She holds and has held a variety of appointments in Danish and international institutions and forums, and she has extensive experience from research policy work and strategy development in Space- research and applications. Apart from experience as Associate Professor at University of Copenhagen and at the Technical University of Denmark, Inge has obtained deep insight into the needs by the public sector via her position as research leader at the Danish Meteorological Institute, and
through her engagement in several interdepartmental panels. In 2017, Inge founded a start-up company, specializing in downstream applications of Earth Observation data in climate, water, agriculture, nature and the environment. She is active in the innovation environment in the downstream sector in Denmark and Europe, and can draw on a large network, nationally and internationally. Currently she coordinates the Grand Solution project, MOIST, funded by the Danish Innovation Fund. She is chairing the SpaceAcademy@DK, aiming to integrate “space” into higher education across universities in Denmark than is currently the case – to ensure that Denmark on the one hand educates a future labour force so the potential in space data and space research can be fully utilized, and, on the other hand, to increase recruitment to STEM programs by using the fascination power of Space
