Bio
In-Dong Kim (M'87) received the B.S. degree in electrical engineering from Seoul National University, Seoul, Korea, in 1984, and the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical and electronic engineering from Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), Daejeon, Korea, in 1987 and 1991, respectively.
During 1991–1996, he was a Principal Engineer at the Rolling Stock R&D Center of Daewoo Heavy Industries, Ltd., Korea. From 1997 to 1998, he conducted research as a Visiting Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Tennessee, Knoxville. From 2004 to 2005, he also served as a Visiting Professor in The Bradley Department of Electrical Engineering, Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Blacksburg. In 1996, he joined the Department of Electrical Engineering, Pukyong National University, Busan, Korea, where he is currently an Associate Professor. His current research interests include soft-switching converters, uninterruptible power supplies, dynamic voltage compensators, power quality control, renewable distributed power sources, and DSP-based control of power converters.
