Ismail Omer Yilmaz currently works at the Department of Geological Engineering, Middle East Technical University. Ismail does research in Sedimentology, Paleoclimatology-Paleoceanography and Geochemistry. The projects are mainly focused on "Cretaceous Black Shales and Platform Carbonates in Turkey", and applications of sedimentology and sedimentary geochemistry (stable isotopes and trace elements) for reservoir and source rocks. Analysis and detection of paloeclimatological records from sedimentary successions and fossil shells by cyclostratigraphy, stable isotopes and sedimentary petrography in different time scales and in different geological stages are also common interest.
