Hristo Petkov

From a very young age, I knew what my future place in this world was going to be. As a child, I always felt capable of much more than being a normal person and having an ordinary life. I became interested in creating new things and discovering ways of improving what has already been done. I was in first grade when my father bought me my first PC. Rather than just playing games for fun like other children, I was interested in programs like Paint MS, Microsoft Word, and Microsoft Excel. I was always trying to find new ways to write and draw using these programs. As a result, I developed an interest in computers, which carries through to my high school years when I learned to code. It was not until my undergraduate years, that I truly started to appreciate the impact computers have in our daily lives. I became interested in integrating computer algorithms in different aspects of life such as Finance, Engineering, and Science. Currently, influenced by my father (medical professional, surgeon), I am interested in healthcare and medicine but from a computer science perspective. My research aims towards developing deep learning models, which could be integrated into a healthcare or medical environment. I am a loyal, honest, and hard-working person. I have worked in collaboration with colleagues from different nationalities, which gave me the opportunity to develop decent teamwork skills and good communication skills. My goal, at the moment, is to get into academia, where I can continue to conduct research with the possibility to have a real impact on the world.
