Hanseok Ko is a Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Korea University, Seoul. Dr. Ko received a B.S. degree from Carnegie Mellon University, an M.S. degree from Johns Hopkins University, and a Ph.D. degree from the Catholic University of America, all in electrical and computer engineering. He was a Visiting Professor at the (CLSP: Center for Language and Speech Processing) ECE Dept, Johns Hopkins University, and the CS Dept, University of Maryland. During his tenure as faculty at Korea University, Dr. Ko was credited as the main developer of the core audio/speech interface platform for Hyundai/Kia Motors. He also served as the Chair of the ECE Dept and VP of the Information and Computer Technology Office of Korea University. Dr. Ko also has been serving as Director of STW-KU Intelligent Signal Processing Research Center, sponsored by Samsung, to engage in research on image and computer vision and multimodal technologies for surveillance applications. Dr. Ko has authored/co-authored over 700 papers in artificial intelligence (deep learning) and signal processing areas and over 70 patents are either issued or pending in the US and Korea. His professional interests include image/speech/acoustic signal processing and understanding, multi-modal analysis for human-machine interaction, video-based big data analytics, and machine learning. Dr. Ko served as a founding member of the JCN journal, President of the Acoustical Society of Korea, and General Organizing Chair of INTERSPEECH 2022, IEEE ICASSP 2018, IEEE AVSS 2019, and IEEE MFI 2017, etc. in recent years.
