His broad areas of research interests include: Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Solar Energy, Surface Engineering, Optical Coatings, Stealth Coatings, 1-D & 2-D Materials, PVD Coatings, etc. He has published 205 SCI journal papers (h-index: 48), 3 review articles, 31 conference proceeding papers, 5 book chapters (2 by CRC Press). Dr. Barshilia has also authored 21 patents, and has delivered 117 invited lectures in India and abroad. Dr. Barshilia was also an Associate Editor of the journal "Nanosci. & Nanotech. Lett.".
