Gustav Steinhoff

Prof. Dr. med. Gustav Steinhoff After studying medicine at the Erasmus University in Rotterdam 1977-1984, Gustav Steinhoff received his doctorate at the Medical School Hannover in 1987 and worked at the University Hospital in Kiel and the Medical School Hannover, where he became a professor of cardiac and thoracic surgery in 1998. In 1999 he took over the management of the clinic for thoracic, cardiac, vascular and general surgery at the Oststadt Hospital in Hannover. In 2000 Gustav Steinhoff was appointed full professor of cardiac surgery and director of the clinic and polyclinic for heart surgery at the University of Rostock. He continued his research on cardiac stem cell therapies and regenerative medicine until his retirement 11/2020 and thereafter as an emeritus professor of cardiac surgery at University Rostock since 12/2020.
