Our work has identified a novel cytotoxic peptide (CIGB-552) of intracellular action that facilitates the accumulation of COMMD1 protein. The two main areas of study in our lab are: Structure determination and characterization of interaction between the peptide and COMMD1 and we also are investigating the regulation of CIGB-552-mediated ubiquitination of NFkB, the inhibition of anti-apoptotic genes, and the functional consequences of the accumulation of COMMD1 at the cellular level.
