Gordon Shaw received the Ph.D. degree from the Department of Chemistry, University of Wisconsin–Madison, Madison, WI, USA, in 2004, under the joint supervision of Prof. W. Crone and Prof. A. B. Ellis, with a focus on the analysis of the nanometer-scale behavior of nickel–titanium shape memory alloys. He worked with DuPont Electronic Chemicals, Hayward, CA, USA, where he was involved in the research and development of electrochemical corrosion analysis of microcircuitry in postetch/postash wet chemical treatments. He is currently with the Mass and Force Group, U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology, Gaithersburg, MD, USA, where he leads the small mass and force metrology project.
