Golden Kumar received the M.S. degree in materials science from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, Kharagpur, India, and the Ph.D. degree in physics from the Technical University Dresden, Dresden, Germany, in 2005. He was a German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Fellow with the IIT–DAAD Master's program in 1999. From 2005 to 2007, he was a Postdoctoral Fellow with the National Institute for Materials Science, Tsukuba, Japan. He is currently an Associate Research Scientist in the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Materials Science, Yale University, New Haven, CT. His research interests include metallic glasses, multiscale surface patterning, nanoimprinting, microfabrication, and microscopy.
