Glaura G. Silva

I am Full Professor of Physical Chemistry in the Department of Chemistry of the Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG), in Belo Horizonte, state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, where I am the academic leader of the Group of Multicomponent Polymeric Materials (GMPM). I spent time as a post-doctoral fellow at Loughborough University (1998), working on the processing and thermal properties of polymeric blends, and at the Queensland University of Technology (2006-2007), working on carbon nanotube/polymeric composites. I am an expert in multicomponent polymeric materials and more recently my focus has mainly been on the preparation and characterization of carbon nanomaterial composites (using carbon black, carbon nanotubes, or graphene), as well as on studies of possible applications of these composites. I have a deep interest in investigations on the scaling up of the production of nanomaterials, with the goal of supporting innovations associated with the nanotechnology chain. In this sense, I have been acting as the subcoordinator of the project that involves the setting up of the Carbon Nanotube Technology Center (CTNanotubos) in the Technological Park of Belo Horizonte (BH-Tec).
