The role of neurosteroids has been my recent focus both in animal models of epilepsy and patients. The most recent experiments performed in my lab obtained evidence for altered levels of inhibitory neurosteroids in epilepsy. My interest for hormones and epilepsy was further stimulated by the study of ghrelin in relation to anti-seizure drugs, leading to the hypothesis that ghrelin receptor ligands could be new anti-seizure agents.
