Gina M. Grimshaw

Gina M. Grimshaw received the B.Sc. degree in biochemistry from the University of Toronto, Toronto, ON, Canada, in 1987, and the Ph.D. degree in cognitive psychology from the University of Waterloo, Waterloo, ON, Canada, in 1996. She was a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Department of Cognitive Science, University of California at San Diego, La Jolla, CA, USA, from 1996 to 1997 before taking up an academic position with California State University San Marcos, San Marcos, CA, USA. Since 2007, she has been with the Victoria University of Wellington, where she is the Director of the Cognitive and Affective Neuroscience Lab. Her research has been funded by the National Institute of Mental Health (U.S.) and the Royal Society of New Zealand Marsden Fund. She has authored over 50 refereed journal publications. Her research explores the cognitive and neural mechanisms that support cognition and emotion, with a particular focus on hemispheric specialization and interaction. Dr. Grimshaw has been the Editor of Laterality: Asymmetries of Body, Brain, and Cognition since 2016. She is the Secretary of the Australasian Society for Experimental Psychology, and chaired the Society’s Experimental Psychology Conference in 2011 and 2019.
