Dr Ghani Akbar has research experience in research projects planning, development and implementation related to conservation/regenerative agriculture, soil and water conservation, high efficiency irrigation systems, irrigation management in cereal crops, watershed management, soil salinity management, simulation modelling, capacity building, field demonstration and dissemination of research results. He is among the pioneer team who introduced permanent raised beds in Pakistan.
