Gerhard Ziegmann

Gerhard Ziegmann received the Ph.D. degree from RWTH Aachen University, Aachen, Germany, in 1979. From 1980 to 1985, he was the Team Leader for Fiber Composites and Processes with Dornier Flugzeugwerft Industry, Manching, Germany. From 1986 to 1990, he led the application sector Fiber Composites at Akzo (today’s name: TohoTenax), Tokyo, Japan. He was a Leader of the Construction Methods Laboratory, ETH Zürich, Zürich, Switzerland. From 1998 to 2012, he was the Director and a Professor of the Institute of Polymer Materials and Plastics Technology, Technische Universität Clausthal, Clausthal-Zellerfeld, Germany, and had a Niedersachsenprofessur for fiber composites from 2012 to 2018. Since 2018, he has been a Senior Professor for Fiber Composites. His research has led to many authored or coauthored publications and several books. Dr. Ziegmann is an Appraiser for the German Research Foundation (DFG). He is a Board Member of Clausthaler Zentrum für Materialtechnik (CZM) and the Board Spokesman for the Zentrum für Mikroproduktion e.V. He is a Board Member of CELC, European Confederation of Flax and Hemp, and a member of the Scientific Committee for FPCM, Flow Processes of Composite Materials. Furthermore, he is a member of various other scientific research boards. In 2009, he received the Material Efficiency Award AIF, Berlin LVI, and in 2010 and 2019, he was awarded AVK-Prizes. In addition, in 2019, he was a recipient of the Innovationspreis Niedersachsen.
