From the beginning, my scientific interests were in the area of the plant-soil ecology. I have worked in research questions regarding comparative plant functional ecology and its relationship with the ecosystem services provided by semiarid forests. Particularly, I have been interested in the carbon storage potential of drylands and semiarid ecosystems, quantifying biomass and C stocks in the dry Chaco of South America. Currently my research is turning around the processes controlling the fertility and sequestration of soil carbon, mediated by the rhizosphere.
