Gaston’s primary research interests are weak lensing and baryon acoustic oscillations. He participated in the construction of the DES camera. Right now, he is also busy building part of the DESI experiment. At Fermilab, we are building the upgrade of the entire top end of the 4 meter Mayall telescope.
He was awarded the status of Fellow in the American Physical Society,after they were nominated by their Division of Particles and Fields in 2009,for leading the introduction of ""matrix-element"" techniques for extracting precise measurements of standard-model parameters at hadron colliders and for seminal and vital contributions to the construction of the unique scintillating fiber tracker for the DZero experiment.
