Dr. Gareth R. Owen is currently a Professor in Sustainable Chemistry at the University of South Wales. He has previously held a Royal Society Dorothy Hodgkin Research Fellowship at The School of Chemistry, University of Bristol. He carried out his undergraduate and postgraduate studies at Imperial College London. His MSci final year project was carried out under the supervision of Prof. A. F. Hill and his PhD was carried out under the supervision of Prof. R. Vilar. In 2003, Dr. Owen went to University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany to work in the research group of Professor J. A. Gladysz. There he was successful in obtaining his first Research Fellowship, an Alexander von Humboldt Research Fellowship. Dr. Owen returned to the UK in 2004 following the award of a Centenary British Ramsay Memorial Research Fellowship (co-sponsored by the Royal Society of Chemistry and the Ramsay Trust) at University of Bristol where he has remained to date. This was followed by a third research fellowship; a Royal Society Dorothy Hodgkin Research Fellowship.
