Giorgio Turchetti was born in 1942. He received the degree in physics from the University of Bologna, Bologna, Italy in 1965. He is currently a Professor of mathematical physics with the Department of Physics, University of Bologna, and the Coordinator of research activities on the physics of complex systems. He is also the Director of the Center for Biophysics and Biocomplexity “L. Galvani.” He is the author of about 200 papers published in refereed journals. His recent research activity is devoted to beam dynamics via laser–plasma acceleration and modeling of complex systems.
