Gregory P. Crawford

Gregory P. Crawford (M'95) received the B.S. degree in both physics and mathematics, and the Ph.D. degree from Kent State University, Kent, OH, where he performed his doctoral research at the Liquid Crystal Institute and NSF ALCOM Center. He is currently an Associate Professor with Brown University, Providence, RI, where his basic research interests include liquid crystals, polymers, and their application in electrooptic devices. In the summer of 1999, he was a Visiting Research Professor with Philips Research Laboratory (Natlab), Eindhoven, The Netherlands. He was formally a member of the research staff at Xerox Palo Alto Research Center (PARC), Palo Alto, CA, and later dpiX, where he concentrated on liquid crystals and polymers materials for flat-panel display applications. He has over 200 research publications, review articles, and book chapters, holds 18 U.S. and foreign patents, and is the coeditor of the book, Liquid Crystals in Complex Geometries formed by Polymer and Porous Networks. He is the editor of a new book, Flexible Flat Panel Displays.
