François Vachon received the B.Sc. degree in physics and the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in remote sensing from the Université de Sherbrooke, Sherbrooke, QC, Canada, in 2000, 2003, and 2009, respectively. Between 2000 and 2006, he was a Research Assistant with the Centre d'Applications et de Recherche en Télédétection, Département de Géomatique Appliquée, Université de Sherbrooke, where his main interest was remote sensing of snow in subarctic regions. Since September 2006, he has been a Research Scientist in remote sensing with the Institute of Research and Development, Hydro-Québec, Varennes, QC. His research interests include passive microwave remote sensing of snow, geophysical inversion of models, and integrating remote sensing into hydrological modeling and simulation to improve water resource management.
