Fernando Luiz Pellegrini Pessoa

He has a degree in Chemical Engineering from the Federal University of Bahia (1981), specialization in Petrochemical Engineering (CENPEQ-PETROBRAS/UFBA), specialization in Equilibrium Separation Processes (COFIC / UFBA), a master's degree in Chemical Engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1987), and a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and the University of Lyngby (Denmark) (1992). He worked at the Federal University of Bahia as a researcher (4 years), at the Camaçari Petrochemical Complex in Bahia (6 years), and at the School of Chemistry at UFRJ for 27 years, where he became a Full Professor. He is currently a Volunteer Professor at EQ/UFRJ and a Full Professor at SENAI CIMATEC University Center. He was awarded the CNPq 1A Researcher and Scientist of the State of Rio de Janeiro distinctions. He has approximately 200 publications in national and international journals, 600 papers at national and international conferences, and has supervised over 150 students in master's and/or Ph.D. programs. He is the translator of Van Ness (Thermodynamics), Incropera (Mass and Heat Transfer), and Reactor Design (Roberts). He has coordinated various projects with companies and government institutions. He is the Coordinator of the Center of Excellence in Process Intensification at SENAI-CIMATEC. He has expertise in the field of Chemical Engineering, with an emphasis on Applied Thermodynamics and Process Engineering, working primarily in the following areas: PETROLEUM, PETROCHEMISTRY, biofuels, natural products, supercritical fluids, phase equilibrium, process intensification and optimization, circular economy, and green hydrogen.
