Faisal Saied

Faisal Saied has been a Senior Lecturer in Mathematics at NYUAD (New York University Abu Dhabi, 2014-2017). He received his B.A. degree in Mathematics from Trinity College, Cambridge University (1973), M.Sc. degree in Mathematics (Diplom in Mathematics) from Gottingen University (1977), and Ph.D. degree in Computer Science from Yale University (1990). He was an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Illinois University (1990-1997), Senior Research Scientist at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (1997-2003). He was subsequently a Senior Research Scientist at the Computing Research Institute at Purdue University (2003-2010) and Research Associate Professor of Computer Science at Purdue University (2010-2013). His research interests include computational mathematics, parallel numerical algorithms for large sparse linear systems and eigenvalue problems, and their implementation on high performance computers. He has applied these algorithms to a number of problems in computational science and engineering, such as bio-physics, structural analysis and nano-electronics.
